A survivor has courage, determination and strength, they have wisdom, they have stood at the crossroads at one point in their life deciding which path to choose to shape their destiny. Often survivors have not intended to become a survivor and events in their lives have occurred unexpectedly. A survivor does not only have to be a person alive. This quote by Barbara Ehrenreich really captures the courage in the battle of survival: "I would never call myself a cancer survivor because I think it devalues those who do not survive. There's this whole mythology that people bravely battle their cancer and then they become survivors. Well, the ones who don't survive may be just as brave, you know, just as courageous, wonderful people. " -Barbara Ehrenreich- You can be a survivor for many reasons, whether you have fought a battle or endured some sort of test, but it is not easy, it takes hard effort and there are high and low moments. |
